The 2022 KMAC Triennial: Divided We Fall catalogue chronicles KMAC’s recent exhibition of the same name which was on view August 27th – November 6th 2022. The 2022 KMAC Triennial exhibition was the second instance of KMAC’s recurring Triennial series and featured the work of eleven contemporary artists with ties to Kentucky.
The show’s title Divided We Fall, references the Kentucky state motto, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” and alludes to the show’s exploration of the collective disruption, revolution, and rehabilitation felt globally and regionally in the three years since KMAC’s 2019 Triennial show. The artists’ respond to a number of topics such as the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, social unrest, and climate change, all of which were acutely felt in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The 2022 KMAC Triennial: Divided We Fall, connects concerns relevant to our geographic region with issues that define the larger national narrative, revealing how our landscape can be a site of conflict and resistance, as well as a place of unity and mutual respect.
The catalogue includes eleven thought-provoking essays written by established arts writers about the artists and works included in this show. This collectible publication is a wonderful reflection on KMAC’s 2022 Triennial and would make a great gift for art lovers!
