About This Suitcase
This suitcase is a resource for students to recognize and understand the culture and history behind art. The term “African American art” describes a broad field in the visual arts and the Black community. It is important to look at the history of these movements and artists so that we can understand the art being made by contemporary Black artists. The goal of this suitcase is for students to explore African American art by understanding the history that influenced it.
